Tarung Beksi is one of the Indonesian martial arts. The name Beksi is an combination ok 'bek' from Netherland for 'defense' and 'si' from Chinese for 'four' which means 'defense from four quarters'. Among the Betawi people of the greater Jakarta, the silat tradition is rooted in the culture of the jagoan or local champions. Betawi silat is referred to in the local dialect as 'maen pukulan' literally meaning 'strike play'.
